Master  Guo Pei Yun
(1900 - 1978)

     Master Guo Pei Yun (1900 - 1978) also called Tian Shun, was born in a noble family of FengZhen town, ShanXi Province (Inner Mongolia), He dedicated to researching and teaching Kung-Fu as biggest passion for his whole life.
     Master Guo Pei Yun learned Shao Lin Quan, Tong Bei Quan, Ba Fa Quan and various weapons with the famous master Xing Yuan (also know during his youth with the nicknamed of "Quicker than Monkey".
     Master Xing Yuan was a student of the well known Xing Yi Quan M° Liu Wen Hua; he started to study Xing Yi Quan whit M° Liu, along with his young pupil Guo Pei Yun, after a friendly match, where M°Xing was beaten away three times consecutively by M° Liu.
     Master Guo started to train the Xing Yi Quan’s Zhan Zhuang with M°Liu Wen Hua, and even practiced the Wu Xing (Five elements) and Shi Er Xing (Twelve Animals) Xing Yi
 Quan forms for more than ten years, inherited a lots of Master Liu’s essence.

     In the year 30s, the founder of Yi Quan, Mr. Wang Xiang Zhai, lived at Master Guo’s home as the important guest; the two masters spent a lot of time discussing about traditional culture during the day, and practicing together Kung-Fu in the evenings, both improving their ability and mastery.
Thanks to the exchange with Mr. Wang Xiang Zhai, Master Guo understood more clearly the importance of Zhan Zhuang training of Yi Quan. Later on, Mr. Guo reached the higher degree of professional proficiency with the guides of his Kung-Fu brother Mr. Li Zhen Bang. M°Guo Pei Yun use to daily train the martial applications, such as Tui Shou and free fighting, together with his Kung-Fu brothers (Xue Dian, Hu Yao Zhen, Li Yun Long). This allows him to reach high level ability and a superb foot work that just one out of thousand has.

     It is said that during the training Mr. Guo’s movements’ speed were so lightning and continuous that no wind and rain drop can pass thorough. The two arms seem as two dragons agitating the sea; Fa Li (exposable force) resemble to an erupting volcano.
     Many other famous teachers as, Li Wen Biao (Ba Gua Zhang master, student of Chen Ting Hua), Fu Ting Xi (Tai Ji Quan master, student of Yang Cheng Pu), Wu Tu Nan of BeiJing and Qi Feng Lin (Tong Bei master), enjoyed a lot to spend time and the experience shared with Mr. Guo Pei Yun, especially for the Mr. Guo’s and personal loyalty and open mind attitude.
     Due to the Mr. Guo’s and personal loyalty and open mind attitude, many famous teachers as Ba Gua Zhang master Li Wen Biao (student of Chen Ting Hua), Tai Ji Quan master Fu Ting Xi (student of Yang Cheng Pu), Mr. Wu Tu Nan of BeiJing, Tong Bei master Qi Feng Lin. Masters, enjoyed a lot the time and the experience shared with Mr.Guo Pei Yun. In the year 1957, Master Guo was invited as judge for the National Kung-Fu demonstration competition.
Mr. Wu Zi Zhen (The first coach of BeiJing eldest Kung-Fu Association) and Mr. Li Tian Ji (First President of Chinese Physical Education Ministry after China’s independence) appreciated a lot Mr. Guo’s physical harmony and force. His mastery was so great and high that even the Chinese national government tries to make some videos of Mr. Guo’s training for later generations benefit. But problem with other people arose therefore he could not go on with this project, which, for us, is a very big pity.
     
Master Guo Pei Yun traveled a lot in China and met a lot of people wishing to become pupils of him, but He was cautious to receive formal students because did not like to show off. Among his students the most important delegates are Mr. Yang Lin Sheng (54 years old and living in Italy), Mr. Yang Tong of BaoTou (78 years old), Mr. Meng Man Cang (63 years old), Hao Huan Shi (55 years old), Mr. Zhang Jian Ping of NingXia Province (64 years old), Mr. Li Chang Ai of ShanXi Province (57 years old), Mr. Chang Ding (65 years old).
     
During the train Master Guo was very severe with his students, he pushes the student to overcome the single technique and from single movement draw out and deducing all the potentiality of the body and the entire stile, bringing out from each single student the best they can.
     The most important point was, for Mr. Guo, to use the high Kung-Fu philosophy and moral to enlighten students understanding on Kung-Fu philosophy of life.
