Shao Lin Quan is one of the most important delegates
of Chang Quan (external style of Kung Fu). In general, Shao Lin Quan means
“Shao Lin Pai” (Shao Lin Style), which is a style of Kung Fu that practices the
monks of Shao Lin Temple of Hao Shan (Mountain of Hao). Shao
Lin Quan also contains many techniques in army. The source
of Shao Lin Quan is still not clear yet. There are many statements of it’s
source but there are only two most possible reasons. First, in
the book “Da Mo Bu Shi Bu Shi Shao Lin Quan Shi Zu” (Is Gautama the creator of
Shao Lin Quan), it was written that many military leaders, generals and normal
Kung Fu talents went into Shao Lin Temple because of political persecution. So
many essential Kung Fu techniques spread into Shao Lin Temple and these
techniques composed the primary

basic of Shao Lin Quan. At that moment, society
needed the repression and the influence of Dhyana Sect Civilization, Shao Lin
Quan then became more stable and important.

Another
possible reason, it was said that when Gautama went to Chinese Shao Lin Temple to teach Buddha
Civilization, Gautama figured out that people felt boring of continue reading
the classical texts. So he taught some activities which were some punches and
kicks, people felt interesting and so they could return to the classical texts.
Then these primary punches and kicks became Shao Lin Quan.

researchers are still trying to figure out the real source of Shao Lin Quan,
but these two reasons might be the most possible ones. Years
after, heretics revolted the government and entered into Shao Lin Temple. They
wanted to destroy and fire the temple, so the Shao Lin Temple leaders sent out
the Shao Lin Quan practicers to protect the temple. They used fists and sticks
to repress the heretics and sent them out from the temple. Then Shao Lin Quan
became more famous after they showed the combating techniques

during the
repression. Shao Lin
Quan is still developing now, and the modern style shows that Shao Lin Quan is
a style Kung Fu that relates to Zen (a style of Buddha). The combating
characteristics are intention relates to movements, hard fight and quick
attack, and advance together with retreat. Shao Lin Quan’s forms are usually
quite short, routes are usually straight. Shen Fa (advanced harmony) of Shao
Lin Quan requires well control and balance, agile moving and tranquil resting.
Steps require advance with low positions and
